Pibb Info

Mr Pibb was introduced in 1972 as a Sugar-Free drink, eww, I like the current incarnation better.

67.6 MILLION 192oz cases of Mr. Pibb sold in 1997. That's 12979200000 oz or 101400000 gallons. In comparison, Cherry Coke sold 66.8 million cases. wow.

If you haven't seen it before: Mr Pibb Pralines

Yield: 12 servings
1 c Sugar; Granulated
1 c Brown Sugar; Dark, Packed
1 c Mr. Pibb
1 c Marshmallows; Miniature
Pecan Halves; *
   * Use 2 to 3 cups of pecan halves.

Cook sugars and Mr. Pibb in a saucepan over low heat, stirring constantly,
then gradually birng to the soft ball stage (240 degrees F on candy thermometer).
Remove mixture from heat; stir in marshmallows and pecans. Mix vigorously until marshmallows dissolve.
Quickly drop by tablespoon on wax paper to cool. Makes 2 dozen pralines.

Coke's Mr. Pibb Advertising strategy:
Redesigned to be positioned at the teen market to take advantage of Dr.Pepper's 'older' positioning. Mr. Pibb filled the niche for a 'cherry/berryish' cola drink that is fun, not pretentious.
(Well, it worked)
