David Isaac Barclay
Avant Garde Pianist/Performance Artist/Digital Doodler
"Dancer" by D.I.B.
Hi this is David Isaac Barclay
I perform solo piano sets of
Dynamically Improvised Kinetic
Abstract Textures.
Crumpled Motifs. Blurry Scales.
Scribble Riffs. Absurd themes.
And Fractured Solos in a surprisingly
fluidic methodic technique.
A Signature Nonsense if you
will.

During a live performance I
have some kind of visual event
such as dancers or wild costumes
or multi media displays.
The philosophy is based on Marcel
Duchamp's Dadaism,
Bits of Fluxus and the Abstract
Expressionist Art movement
as well as influences from composers
such as
Erik Satie, John Cage, Derek
Bailey
as well as Cecil Taylor and
Charles Gayle.

Here is a review of my work from
Listen.com...
"Barclay is an amazing pianist
with an obvious love for the
Avant Garde.
Dizzying scales and atonal riffs
fly in the listener's face with
surprising dynamics and sudden
shifts in mood.
Restlessly experimenting,
he'll occasionally he bring
in melodic themes
which he'll then explode
into shards of musical chaos.
Better recording equipment could
help
his audience hear some of the
quietest moments better."
Here is a short review from the
MP3.com RHIZOMES station about
Track 1..
"He doesnt miss a note."
Here is part of a critique from
Giovanni Grosskopf atonal composer

in it"...
"If you ask me if it recalls
Action Painting
and the large picture by Pollock
I saw at
the Metropolitan Museum
in New York City last summer,
yes, it does..."
